Marco Zappa, fellow Ticinese, friend and my Italian and Music teacher in High School (La Morettina, Locarno) is a very well known Artist, Musician and “Cantautore” with a decades-long musical career spanning various genres.

What better way to honor my High-School Teacher-Hero with a blog entry dedicated to his work!

Marco was recently honored with the prestigious “Premio Pro Ticino” – a Lifetime Achievement Award to those promoting the Swiss-Italian language and culture. On that occasion he was interviewed on behalf of Pro Ticino by Beatrice Bomio Amichi.

Il profumo della propria terra

Diciamolo ogni ticinese saprebbe collocare Marco Zappa nel contesto musicale locale ricordando, magari dall’infanzia, alcuni dei suoi tratti –barba e orecchino – e canticchiando qualche sua melodia. Di strada ne ha percorsa ancora molta questo autore nato negli anni ’50, ed i tanti a ricordarlo diventano forse più esigui se confrontati ai suoi lavori più recenti ed alla sua evoluzione.
