Exciting news from the Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences! Dreamworks animated feature “How to Train Your Dragon” (IMDB, Official, Wikipedia) was nominated for an Academy Award as “Best Animated Feature“, alongside “Toy Story 3” and “The Illusionist”.
Angeleno-Swiss Simon Otto (Official, IMDB, YouTube, blog, swissinfo) contributed to the creation of this Film as Head of Character Animation. We’re keeping fingers and toes crossed and look forward to the 83rd Academy Awards at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood on February 27th on ABC!

Swiss Films at the Palm Springs International Film Festival

The Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) is one of the largest film festivals in North America, welcoming 130,000 attendees each year for its lineup of new and celebrated international features and documentaries. The Festival is also known for its annual Black Tie Awards Gala, honoring the best achievements of the year in Film year by a celebrated list of talents who in recent years have included Clint Eastwood, Kate Winslet, Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Sean Penn, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ron Howard, Anne Hathaway, Jeff Bridges, Danny Elfman and many others.
This year’s 22nd edition will feature 193 films from 687 countries, including 59 premieres (9 World, 17 North American and 33 U.S.).3 Swiss Films will be presented this year and one of them is the official Swiss entry for Academy Awards® Consideration: “The Little Room – La Petite Chambre”:
