Preserving Lautner’s Legacy:
The Spectrum of Stewardship

Co-presented by the Los Angeles Conservancy and The John Lautner Foundation

Sunday, October 9, 2011
3 – 5 p.m.

Wilshire Christian Church Fellowship Hall
634 South Normandie Ave. (at Wilshire Blvd.)

$15 general public; $10 members of either presenting organization
Reservations required; reception to follow discussion

The Conservancy and The John Lautner Foundation are excited to co-present a discussion with architects and owners of Lautner homes about various approaches to stewardship—from restoration to reconstruction, and everything in between.

Our distinguished panelists will do brief visual presentations of five different Lautner projects, then share a range of views on sustaining the master architect’s built legacy. Ultimately, this candid dialogue will help to advance our collective thought and practice in terms of preserving Lautner (and other) structures in Los Angeles.

Moderated by Los Angeles Conservancy Executive Director Linda Dishman, the panel will include (in alphabetical order):

Helena Arahuete, Principal, Lautner Associates
Frank Escher, board member, The John Lautner Foundation and Principal, Escher GuneWardena Architecture
Mark Haddawy, owner, Harpel House
Michael LaFetra, Conservancy board member and owner, Stevens House
Ron Radziner, FAIA, Design Principal, Marmol Radziner

A reception will follow the discussion.

This special event is part of the John Lautner Turns 100 series, a year-long celebration of the legendary architect, who would have turned 100 this year. For more information about the series, visit johnlautner.org.

Space is limited, so reservations are required. You can make reservations here.
If you have any questions, please call the Conservancy office at (213) 623-2489.

We look forward to a spirited discussion, and we hope to see you there!

CicLAvia Alert: CicLAvia is the same day from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The route runs east of — but near to — Wilshire Christian Church, so you can attend both events if you’d like! For more info, visit CicLAvia.org.
